TREES

I saw each tree as a living sculpture consisting of a specific interaction between shaped masses and directional thrusts. Each tree looked like the tree directly before me and like none other.

Its appearance was the unique result of a unique momentary combination of specific genus, specific immediate environment, specific season, specific time of day’s light and my own specific station point. The result rarely fitted the textbook mold for how trees look and ironically provided me with unexpected freedom of choice with materials and techniques.
